There are times when financial planning is as much about providing emotional support and guidance as the need for advice. Today has been one of them. I was asked by a professional colleague to help deal with a situation they’ve never encountered before, so I went along as support person.
Discussing a potential terminal illness insurance claim with a family I’d only just met was emotionally confronting. The plus side is they were given a degree of hope to reduce the financial stress they’re currently experiencing.
We’ve discussed the process…what’s needed and what to expect…and how my colleague will help moving forward.
Oh, and typical of me, my eyes started leaking!
